GREYHOUNDS FIGHT
HURDLE RACE A FIASCO. SYDNEY, July 11. The Aerial Hurdles at the Greyhound Coursing Association’s mechanical hare meeting at Harold Park on Saturday night ended in a fiasco. Six of the , seven competitors were disqualified. Bonnie Play led from Dickie Warlc and Glen Quair, and at the second lap hurdle the first-named swung wide and fell. The other two doigs stopped, and a fight ensued between the trio. Before the final obstacle was reached the remaining runners engaged in a fight, and the outsider of ' the field, Idlemine, stepped over the ' hurdle wih Meroo, and they struggled past the judge’s box, attacking each other. Idlemine, Meroo, and Dickie Warb, were placed in that order, and later Sandpaper’s number was substituted as the third dog. There were many cries of “No race,” and the announcement was made that the event would be/re-run alter the concluding race. Although bookmakers are instructed that the club will not bo responsible for amounts paid out before the green light is shown in the tower, some of the fielders stated that they had negotiated Idlemine tickets after the numbers F ere hoisted,
