BRITISH DELEGATES LEAVE.
141 -PERSONS IN THE PARTY. :RUGBY, July 13. The British delegation to the Impcial Economic Conference at Ottawa embarked for Canada in th e . ‘‘Empress of Britain’’ >at Southampton this afternoon. The delegation is led by Mr Stanley Baldwin, and comprises Mr Neville Chamberlain, Lord Hailsharn, Mr J. H. Thomas, Sir Philip CimliffeLister, Mr Walter Runciman, and Sir John Gilmour. The ‘'Empress of Britain,” which was given a rousing send-off, was every Hag of the Empire ■ being displayed, and streamers trailing from her decks. Including the experts, official's and secretarial staff, the British delegation numbers 141* persons. There are 46 members of other Empire delegations to Ottawa,also aboard. Before the vessel sailed,'Mr Baldwin, in an interview, said- ‘‘After Lausanne. Ottawa. We are 'caving fu'-l A hope tihat we shall be able, -as a luither ftep towards a revival of the f.rflfle of tl'-i world, to crown the first year’s work of the National Government by agreeing at Ottawa, upon a policy of freer trade which will lay a foundation for a greater expansion of Empire tvad 0 to the mutual advantage of us all.”
