SUNDAY PICTURES
FOR" WELLINGTON RELIEF FUND. CONSIDERED BY CITY COUNCIL, f Per Press Association— Copyright.) WELLINGTON, July 15. The Wellington City Council’s approval of, Sunday pictures, the proceeds- therefrom to go to aid the relief of distress in the city, was referred to by the Mayor (Mr Hislop) at the.. Council meeting lust night, when MJr. Hikop stated that he had received communication'! from Church piebpl'e protesting against the exhibition of pictures on .Sundays. The Mayor said that helpersonally, was strongly of tiro view that they approve only of such programmes as were suitable, and which would .not conflict with Church services. Be considered, however,, that the picture people were ready to assist the Mayor’s fund, which, at the present time, was very short of money. He did not think the offer of the picture people was the thin end of the wedge for Sunday pictures. He proposed, when the programme was submitted, to- mdd. and discuss it with representatives of the Churches.
