HEAVY DAMAGE
Fire in dunedin hotel. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) DUNEDIN, July 14. Damage estimated at £2030 was done by ail early morning fire at Wains Hotel, Princess street. The outbreak is supposed to have originated in a cupboard used for storing cleaning material. The police and firemen had to assist six women from the fourth floor _ to safety. ’ The ’ brigade was "called out. at 2.15 a.m. when the flames had a good hold on the two top storeys. The building was owned by Mr M. Goughian, and was insured in the ’Royal Exchange for £9,000 and the contents, in the same company for £3,500. The stock of Mr Clifford's chenri t shop underneath suffered through water.
