Mental Hospital Dr Robert Lisle Christie, was killed in a motor accident in Ngahauranga Gorge near JohnsonviMe. A car in which he ahd other passengers were traveling, left the road hear the summit of the Gorge, arid crashed fifteen or twenty feet down a steep-bank coming to rest upside : down'in a creek. ■ /■:' .

Tli'e accident occurred about , eight o’clock, a short distance on . the Wellington side of Johiisonville, near the junction of the Woodland Road and the Ngahauranga Gorge Road.
The car was driven by its owner,; Mr Gollderiiith, an attendant at the Menial Hospital and it contained other passengers besides Dr Christie. They were on their way from Wellington to Porirua after having attended to-day’s race meeting at Trentham.'
The cause of the car Jfeaving the road is said to have beeu a defect in the steering gear. No others cars were oh the summit at the.-time;. - A : .... Dr Christie’ served . at':Galljpblir;arid later completed his studies and joined the Islands Medical Service. He was ’ri runner of note, arid Ms held'the New Zealand University record for 100 yards.
