THIEVES CAUGHT
AFTER CHASE IN CHRISTCHURCH

CHRISTCHURCH, July 11. Ah exeitng chase in the city on'Saturday night ended in the capture of two men who had broken ihto the "Teachers’ .Training College at the. cor- | ner of Peterborough Street, and had stolen a valuable silver cup, an overcoat and other articles. The capture was the result of smart work by J. G. .-Bark, a student of the' College, and W. G>; Anderson, the caretaker, backed up by the police. , The intruders broke into tlie prin- | cipal’s room by smashing the lock, aiid 1 subsequently Bark- noticed the < flashing of a torch inside the offices,' and gave the alarm. One man was cahglit • in a right of way, and the other, after a chase, was taken low a block away - by Bark who is a footballer.
CHARGE
CHRISTCHURCH, July 11
•As a sequel to an alleged burglary at a training coil lege, Norm-an Darcy Bryden, 38 and Samuel Henry Clegg, 33, both labourers, were charged with breaking, entering and theft,, and were remanded to July 19th. .
