MEAT CONTRACT
SECURED, AT AUCKLAND.

The annual contract for the supply of one million pounds weight of corned beef for Admiralty for use in the Naval depots in Great Britain has for the first timo, come to New Zealand,, the successful tenders being Messrs W. and A. Fletcher, of Auckland. This contract ’is offered for competition throughout the world, and in the past it, lias usually gone to- South. America or Australia. The firm here will not disclose the contract price, but states that ■ the contract. involves the payment of five thousand pounds in wages, apart from the costs for cased timber, rail'age, etc. All' of the meat comes from the Auckland province.
