In the mixed double* Maier and Miss Ryan beat Cochet and Mrs Whittingsall 7—5, 3—6, 6—l. ' _ , : 1 , In the men’s doubles, the American* were erratic, -while Rrugnon’s artistry delighted the crowd.. It was a. tribute to th e superiority of the, American women’s tennis, to Mrs Helen Wilis-Moody and Miss Jacobs who entered the final without the loss of a set. Miss Jacobs served strongly, and chopped and sliced accurately, but was worn out by Mrs Willa-Moodybrn..., masterly placements, and; was soon vanquished. Mm WilL-Moody took the fifth Wimbledon title, - compared with' Ml.e. -Susanri© Lenglen’s six. Mrs WPls-Moody beat Miss Jacobs 6—3, 6—l.
