DROP IN REVENUE

WELLINGTON CUSTOM RETURNS (Per Press Association — Copyright.) WELLINGTON, June 30. The net customs revenue collected at Wellington after having shown increases in April and May over the corresponding months of last year, again shows a heavy decrease for June, over June 1931. The revenue collected during the last month totalled £156,941, against £184,427 for June, 1931, a decrease of £26,486. Included in last month’s total is £9,759 derived from the increase of 2d a gallon in the petrol dirty, whichi is paid into the Consolidated Fund!; But for this, the decrease Avould have been £36,245. For the first six months of the current year, the revenue was £1,035,092 against £1,133,345 for the corresponding period of ;1931, a decrease ot £9.7,750.

The duty collected on motor spirit 'Jast imontltr/Witei&2tk262.-.'a±.-.6.d .gallon, and £9759 at %jjfck. gallon*... a total,tel £39,021, as ag:u|st/:£45,864 for June, 1931. The figures for the past six "months were £303,442 and £263,919 respectively, an increase of £39,523. Collections of tyre tax last" month Avere £1406, as against £1666 in June 1931. For the six months there is a decrease of £2702, the figures being £lO,285 and £12,987 respectively.

. The beer excise':, collections for June were £3606, as against £3727 for June 1931, a decrease of £121; for the six months the figures were £31,185 and £25,259 respectively, an increase of £5936.
