ALL BLACKS’ EASY WIN. ' MAX FRACTURES ANKLE. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, June 29. The All Blacks completely overwhelmed Newcastle at the Sports Ground there this afternoon, in the I second match of the tour, winning by i 44 points to six. The teams were as | follows : | Newcastle: T. Hills; Rose, J. Hills, Hinkston, /Jaynes; fo V. McNamara; Rutherford; Tobin, Champion, Parbtiry, G. McNamara, Deglorion, Bland, McDonald and Holley." New Zealand: Lilburne; Caughey, Holder, Proctor; Tunes, Page; Comer; Hore, Jessep, Palmer, Max, Clarke, Steere, Manchester and Barry. Caughey replaced Bullock-Douglas at. the last minute in the visiting team. The local team put up a fair showing in the first half, but they were absolutely powerless to stop the onslaught of the visitors in the second period. Holder, Page, Proctor and Manchester were the most outstanding players on the visiting side, the big forfvitrd Manchester being everywhere after the ball. ; Both Pago and Holder failed at goalkicking. :■ : : The game was played in real football weather. The ground was soft, following rain. Newcastle won the toss. Holder scored a try within one minute of the start.
Penalties were frequent. The New Zealanders secured the hall from practically every line-out.
At the interval the scores were:— N.Z. 15; Newcastle 3. Shortly before the half time adjournment, Max, the New Zealand forward, retired with a fractured ankle. The All Blacks were never really extended.
Proctor scored five tries, and H/’ldci three tries, while Tunes, Caughley. | Steere and Hore scored one each. Corner kicked four goals, all of them being in the second spell. A medical examination of Max dis - closed that- he has fractured a small hone of the ankle, which is being, X-rayed to-morrow. He cannot play next Saturday, and may not piny again on the tour. Caughey ro.olaoed Bullock-Douglas before the game started. The latter war not reported to he injured. LILBURNE RETURNING. SYDNEY, June 29. The manager, Mr IV. J.
