A claim for damages amounting to ,£lOl Bs, was made by John Low, a labourer, of Outram, against Wholesalers, ’Ltd., at a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., to-day. The statement of claim set out that the plaintiff lird ■fiieen supplied at the Outram Hotel with stout bottled by Wholesalers, Ltd

and that 'as the result of this :.Cout containing sulphate of copper, ho had suffered his illness. He claimed £3O for the loss of wages, £1 8s for medical expenses, and £7O for general da mag. s for injury and illness. Evidence was given to show that the plaintiff and glso others who were served from the same bottle of stout, bo came very sick. A sample of the stout was sent to the Government Analyst at Dunedin, who found that it containi'. 4.01 pea- cent, of sulphate of copper.
