ARAHURA STOCK SALE
Real winter conditions prevailed at the above yards yesterday for the usual fat stock fixture and greatly added to the discomfiture cf the stock and buyers present. ;
The yarding comprised 2019 sheep and lambs and 41 head of cattle, the latter comprising mostly runners and light steers. Buyers were represented from Westport to Ross and competition was distinctly firm nt rates in advance oi the last sales at this point. Sheep were in good demand and on entry from Westhaven, was equal to the Coast’s best and sold well after their rough sea trip. The following sales were made by Messrs Houston and Jeffries: —32 wethers at 14/8, 34 do at 12/5, 19 do- at 19/-. 11 ewes at 8/11, 4 do at 8/7, 11 do at 7/8, 51 do at 8/6, 22 mixed e. and w. at 13/3. 32 lambs passed at 8-’- 31 ewes at 9/**. 26 store ewes at 6/bCattle.—2 light heifers at £3/2/6, 2 runners at £3, 3 vealers at £2/6/-, 3 steers at £5/2/-. 2 do at £4/17/6, 2 do at £4/16/-. 1 sucker at £l/19/-. 2 cows at £5, 1 do at £4/15/-, 1 runner at £3 5 do at £2/14/-, 2 suckers at £2/5/-, 10 do at £2, 3 bullocks at £B/10/-.
