BLEW BUS UP
CHARGE (HEARD AT MAR-TON. EFFORT TO CRIPPLE OPPONENT. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) MARTON, June 27. The case is proceeding in the Marton Court to-day in which Charles W. Hoffman is charged that, on June 2, he blew up the bus of his opponent, L. S. Weld, on the Marton to Palmerston run, and that he a?so had in his possession a bomb with the intent to commit a crime. Twenty-six witnesses are to be heard, and only four, so tar, ha Vg been disposed of. j, ,s. Weld told of Hoffman’s effort to put him off the road, and ot finding sugar in the benzine tank of his bus, while three other witnesses told cf threats Hoffman had made to blow up or burn the bus.
“If h e can’t be got by fair means, lie can be got by foul,” was one statement he is alleged to have made, while two of the witnesses told of accused’s offer to them if they burned the bus.
