THEFT CHARGE
ACCOUNTANT IN COURT.

WELLINGTON, June 24
-Arrested yesterday, Archibald Walter McCol], aged 47, an accountant, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court today,‘before Mr Page, S.M., with stealing money amounting to £735, the property of Neiv Zealand Roads, Ltd., (in liquidation) No. 2 account. A remand was granted till Wednesday.
It was stated that the .amount involved would be about £I6OO, and the police would be ready to proceed with the, case on Wednesday. Bail was allowed 'without oppri'itiou. An application was made for suppression of ii’-’ iname on the plea that McColl had been negotiating a business .settlement on behalf of his wife* and if the naan was published, the settlement would he seriour-ly prejudiced, and any o|h rs concerned would bo in a position to dictate to his wife who was not a business woman. The amount involved in the settlement was £2,000. The Magistrate said that- be was not prepared to make an order.
