R." C. MacFarlane, said that tlie Society stood for more than the mere holding of Royal Shows. He stressed the importance of corrective science. The of the men on the land s!Tould, be quality, and then quantity, but not quantity at any price. Material scien.ee had bounded ahead in recent years, but social science was still in the dark ages, and political economy and organisation were hopelessly out of date. Several remits were passed. One advocated >:he appointment of the promised Commission to inquire into all local body matters as soon as possible Another remit endorsed a Master-ton proposal that motor lorries owned and used exclusively for farm .'work should be charged a lower heavy traffic fee than trucks used for commercial purposes.
The principle of giving preference to British implements was confirmed. Unanimous -support was accorded a remit co the effect that, if possible, funds from the Meat Producers’ Board and Dairy Produce Board should be used to expi'ore markets in the- Last and Jon the West Coast of South America.
A motion was passed expressing appreciation of the work of- th e Department of Agriculture, and the Massey (Agricultural College. 1
