T)ho drawing of the Golden Dawn Art, Union, which was to have taken place la-;,t evening, has been postponed until Monday next, 'it was discovered late yes:efday that ad the butty had not been returned, and as it was impossible for the draw to proceed until they had all been accounted for, the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. Adam HamiL ton) was appealed to and eventually gave permission- for the draw to be postponed. The. art union is for a first prize of £SO, with a -second of £2O and a third of £lO, and has as its object the. provision of playing grounds for boys under the • Canterbury Football Association. The draw was to have taken place in the • Canterbury Automobile Association’s room.s last evening, but an awkward position arose at the last moment -when it was found that a number of butts had not been returned by the selling agents. Mr L. F. Foote, the secretary of the Canterbury Football -Association, ' telegraphed to 'the Minister asking for an extension of tlrrie and was at first refused, but as the ,police would not permit the drawing to take place until a certificate was given that all butts were included, it way impossible to proceed, A further application for an extension of time was granted. Mr Foot e stated that two or three days will be required before all the returns can he got in.
