PLOT REVEALED
OF ASSASSINATION
AGAINST LORD LLOYD

LONDON, June 20
Explosive experts are examining an infernal machine which two hoys found under a platform after the prizes had been distributed at St. Bee’s School, iii * Cumberland, by Lord Lloyd (exHijgh Commissioner of Egypt, and exGovernor of Bombay). It was at first thought to he an illtimed practical joke, but it is now believed it may have been an attempt on Lord Lloyd’s life. The mechanism of the machine, which is controlled by clockwork, was fitted with a twelvehour dial, set for 3.30, at which hour Lord Lloyd was distributing the prizes.
The po’ice immediately took possession of the machine. The headmaster, Mr A. Bell, said the machine seemed too well made to be a fake.
A later message states that tile hiaciiine wfis found immediately beneittli the Bishop of Carlisle’s chair, which was next to Lord Lloyd's,
The Special Branch of Scotland Yard are guarding Lord Lloyd,
