BATTERED by gals for days

(Australian Press Association.)

(Received this day nt 9.25 n.m) SYDNEY, June 21

The British tramp steamer Welcombe, has arrived from Dunedin, battered by a heavy gale,' taking 84 days. Early last week, the Welcombe ran into heavy weather which prevailed over that section of the Tasman for some time, and at one stage, although the engines were driving full speed ahead, the ship was actually being driven towards New Zealand.

Several bunks in the forecastle head collapsed, and one native fireman was injured. ■
