DEATH OF MOTORIST. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) LEVIN, June 15. The death occurred, lat't night, as the result of a car accident, of Frederick Percy Hannah, 50, restaurant 'Keeper, of Levitt; , • - On Sunday, deceased was drivihg a car ailing Gladstone Road, whert the wheels went into a holb, and tile outer edge of the road broke away, papaiHing the car over a6O feet bank, It rolled over three times in its descent. Other occupants 1 , Mt« Hannah' and two daughters and a son, were thrown out and escaped serious injury." • Tire father’s ribs were broken and his chest crushed, death following in the hospital. A DETERMINED SUICIDE. WHANGAREI, June 15. Michael Hayes, about 63, retired petty officer in the Navy, was found dead in a cottage at Kaitaia, where he was a well known figure, with his throat cut, believed self inflicted. There was evidence, that the man had also struck himself on the head with a hammer, and stabbed his chest with a slasher. His cottage door was securely locked. Haves had independent means. A number of medals, including the D.C.M., were found in the house. NOTED PROFESSOR DROWNED. LONDON, June 14. News has been received that Professor John Walter Gregory was drowned in the Urubamba river, in Northern Pern, while leading an expedition to study volcanic movements. The newspapers nay a tribute to his .scientific attainments and explorations in Africa and Australia.
