In an interview, Air Carrington said that the conference was expected to last for four or five weeks, and at its termination, it was pi'opable that the Canadian Government would invite the delegates from the various Dominions to tour (lie beauty spots of the country.
"The general endeavour of the Australian delegation will be to secure pro. ferential duties in Great Britain on all of the primary produce, and, in return, Great Britain probably will ask for preferential treatment of her manufactures,” said Air Carrington.
' ’'-“The Australian manufacturers are hot likely .to view with approval any attempt to reduce the duties, that will •react detrimentally on their own home industries.” Ho added: “The economic side of the conference in dealing with -the adjustment of war loans and debts, should be the most vital part of it.” ’ On the Australian delegation’s arrival at Vancouver, Air S. Bruce, who will be the leader of the delegation, would probably deliver an ' important policy speech. He said the delegation would proceed to Canada, via Auckland.
FREE 'STATE AIAY NOT GO. LONDON, June 13. The Dublin correspondent of “The Times” states: —Air do Valera's attitude ha.s rendered the prospects of Ottawa bleak and it would not be surprising if the Government cancelled the delegation, especially if it withholds land annuities.
