STRANGE DEATH
MUR I)ER TH LORY DISPROVER. SUVA, June 9. People here are interestd in a most remarkable case of death, the victim being a Chinese. At first it looked like a plain case of murder, but the coroner’s Court ha« found that the deceased died from asphyxia. He was one of four who owned a market garden. ‘After death it yas seen that lie had two deep brown marks on each ,skie of the throat, just- where, thumb and finger would show in a ease of garrotting. There were also brown, scarlike marks about the body.
The medical evidence showed that deceased had a bad heart, and it was stated that it was a Chinese method to relieve pain to pinch the. neck, where the two marks showed. The verdict was that deceased died Irom asphyxia, Jnit there was no evidence to show how Kb:, was brought about.
