DEFINITION OF “PASSENGERS.” AUCKLAND, June 9. The reserved decision of Mr F. W. Platts, S.M., ivas given in the Magistrate’s Couif at Waihi in a case which was heard last month, when Robert A. Meara was charged with carrying passengers iai bis motor lorry without having a license, to do >jo. Counsel for defendant had raised the point that the term “passengers” in the Act referred only to paying passngers, and said that no collection had been made to cover expenses. The Magistrate diem is,sod the case, stating that the point raised by counsel was a good one, and adding that passengers must pay in order, to become passengers within the meaning of .the Act.
