Once again the vexatious question of players leaving the field at half-time > came up for discuss-on at the meeting of the Management Committee of the Canterbury -Rugby Union. “It is absolutely absurd," said Mr Moloney. "It is a bad law. The more we see of it -the less we dike it. Friday gave a typical example. On tbe oval every player was- granted permission individually to leave the fieid, and all .1, - went off. Otherwise, they would have to stay on the field, with wet jerseys in a biting wind." “I know one boy who is- in bed now with a bad chill,”.-said /Mr Davis. “Pneumonia is suspected, and the doctor i> of the opinion that staying .on the field at half-time is responsible.’’ Mr R. W. Britton : The game is for the players, and we must look after their interests. The chairman (Mr McPhail) said that the union ,had given its assurance to the New Zealand union that the rules •would sill be adhered to. What could be done was to protest to the New Zealand union, and bring the question up before the meeting of delegates. Letters were received from the Me-ri-valp, Linwood, Christchurch, and Albion clubs protesting against the enforcement of the . half-time rule. It was decided to write to the New Zealand Union asking for copies of all correspondence relating to the enforcement of the rule.
