HUTT MURDER

WELLiINGTGN, June 9
The preliminary hearing of evidence in the murder charge against Horace Frank Livermore was concluded this morning, and accused was committed for trial. In the course of evidence Detective McLennan produced a statement made by him on the night the body was found. According to this statement accused was interfering with the child with his hand. He hit her on the head with an iron bar seven times, picked er up nad dropped her down the bank. He did not wait to see if she was dead. His reason for* hitting her so was to prevent her telling he had been interfering with her. He said he did it on the spur of the moment to keep her quiet.
