CASES HEARD AT WESTPORT.

"WESTPORT, June S. / At the Supreme Court sitting, before . Justice Adams, Thomas Davies, charged with failing to account fur the sum of £lO os Bd, to the Provident Life Assurance Company, thereby committing theft, we* found not guilty. ’ Mary Fell applied for dissolution of Her marriage, from her husband, Ernest Fell, on the grounds of mutual X reparation. His Honour granted it decree.nisi, to be made, absolute in three months. The usual costs were allowed. .

An application for discharge in bankruptcy by Root. Patterson was adjourned to the next .sitting of the Court on the application of his counsel.

The Sutherland versus Wishart care, was an application by Wishart' against the Magistrate’s decision, .awarding Sutherland £19(5 and costs arising out of a collision between a motor-ear driven by Sutherland and a motor-cycle, ridden by Wishart on tile loth August, 1931, at Sergeant’s -Hill, Fairdown Road. After Mr Morgan had, been heard for applicant, the Court adjourn* ed till next day.

HYSLOP ACQUITTED

PRISONERS SENTENCED.

At the Supreme. Court yesterday before the Chief Justice, William Ebene-. zer Hyslop was acquitted on charges involving alleged false pretences. . - It was alleged by the Crown that 'Hyslop, managing director of Tourist Motor Coy., had .knovlingly made a false declaration to an insurance company. • The jury were absent tor almost four hours. The trial lasted three days.

The fdPowing prisoners were sentenced:—

John William Burton Will'am Matlieson, pleading guilty to a charge of breaking, entering and theft from Hnilenstein Bros., to 18 months’ reformative detention. Two others, Cfiliver and West, pleading guilty to the same offence to three years’ probation.

JRiichard Georgs Clifton on several charges of theft, to two, years’ reformative.
