WELLINGTON, June 8
A further echo of the window-smash-ing affair on the 10th of Miay was heard a.t the Magistrate’s court. Trevor Andrew Harris, a labourer, aged .24, pleaded guilty to a charge' of stealing a watch and a fountain pen, valued lat £6 15s, • the property of Walter Smart, Sub-Inspector Ward said the accused picked up the watch and pen from the pavement outside Smart’s shop after the windows had been broken during the riot. On the 2nd of June, accused went to Smart’s shop with the intention of pawning the watch, but Smart recognised it as his property, and summoned the police, when the accused was arrested. Ho’ stated he had attended the demonstration, but had not taken part in the riot. Harris was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment.
