LEAK DEVELOPED

ON' 5 STEAMER HUNTINGDON

By Telegraph—Ter Tress Associationy

WELLINGTON, June 5. The Federal steamer Huntingdon arrived at. Wellington on Saturday morning jn ballast from London, leaking slightly. She experienced the same south-westerly gale that delayed the Tainui and Otokio. Being in ballast however, the Huntingdon pitched badly, and it is thought the continual pounding during the storm, which lasted for five days, strained some of the rivets in the forward portion of the vessel; thus causing a slight leak.

An examination will he made to-mor-row into the extent of the damage. It then will'be known whether jt will he necessary for the Huntingdon to dock at Wellington for repairs. ,
