FERRIES COLLIDE
HEAVY FOGS AT. SYDNEY
LAND TRAFFIC HELD UP
(Australian tress Association.)
SYDNEY, June 1
Fogs have been troublesome in Sydney harbour every morning for the past week. The ferry traffic has managed to escape accident, although many times collisions have narrowly been averted. This morning, however, two of the Sydney Ferry’s vessels, the Knbu and tho Kamaruka, met with great force off Fort Denison, despite vigilant lookouts.
On both vessels the upper • works were badly damaged. The passengers had narrow escapes from splintered woodwork and broken glass, biit none were injured. Other ferries stood by till it was seen that the damaged vessels were able to complete their journeys unassisted.
'The fogs on the land also caused a good deal of traffic trouble. The trains, trains and motor-ears were using lights. All of the, services were delayed, and one train was derailed at Flemington, resulting in a disorganisation of the passenger traffic for some time.
