WESTLAND COMPETITIONS
HOKITIKA AND MAWHERA WIN
Tile Westland ladies’ hockey competitions were continued yesterday, Maivhera defeating Kokatahi, and Hokitika defeating Rover B.
HOKITIKA 12, ROVER B 0.
Hokitika and Rover B met on Cass Square,' and the former had no diffieutly in wanning, registering 12 goals to their opponents 1 nil. Hokitika were far too' strong for the inexperienced opposition.
Nevertheless,'.‘Covers made a fair showing, and'ln the second epeli they played really well, J. Ridland, T. ltidland, 1. Davidson and B. Johnson being in the limelight, while E. Stephens, tile goalie, was tailed on for a tremendous amount of work, and effected some good saves. Hokitika were :n form, the forwards combining well, and playing a great game. The backs, too w'ere quite sound, M. Sumner being outstanding. The first spell ended B—o. Goals during the match were netted by J. Hall (7), M. Hughes (2), E. Collett (2), and N. Yarrall (I).'

MAWHERA 5 v. KOKATAHI 0
This game w-as played yesterday at Victoria Park, Greymouth, and result., ed in a rather easy victory -.or the more experienced Mawhera team. Nevertheless, it provided a bright and interesting struggle 'which held the attention of the spectators until the final whistle. Mawhera attacked from the bull.voff, and after some mid-field play, N. McGrath scored the first goal for Mawhera. Mawhera still kept up the pressure and N. McGrath scored her second goal. Half-time came without any Jur-, tlier scoring.
Tiie second spell was far more even than the first. Kokntahi attacked, but N. Furness relieved her forwards for N. McGrath to score her third goal. From the bullv-off, Kokntahi kept Mawhera in their own territory for some time, L. Monk being decidedly unlucky not to scare on several occasions. N Furness stopped a very herd shot and sent down to her forwards who broke away, but S. Sheriff, in goal cleared tile danger. Play came to B. Millisran, who sent in a. good shot to find the goal. Kokatahi attacked again, but the Mawliera defence was very solid and they, drove Kokatahi back. From a very exciting scramble in the circle, H. Nelson secured the fifth goal for Mawhera and after a period of mid-field play, the final whistle blew with the scores: Mawhera 5, Kokatahi 0. Miss S. Sheriff played a very -fine game in goal for Kokatahi, and saved her side on numerous occasions. Mr AV. O’Brien was referee, POSITION OF THE- TEAMS. \ • The position of the teams is as follows .
