Rain continues to spoil the cricket, and there was no play in many county matches. Results: Northants: First innings, 161; second innings, seygp jfor 187; Middlesex : First inßiiqfs? 336 (Haig 109). Middlesex won on the first innings.
Surrey; First- innings, 268 (Hobbs 74, Shepherd 97); second innings, four for 101; Warwickshire: First Innings, 267. Surrey won on the first innings*. Somersetshire: First innings, 78 (Verity, six for, 28); second innings, 94; Yorkshire: First innings, 115 (Hazel, five for 30) ; second innings, one for ss. Yorkshire won by nine wickets. Glamorganshire: First innings, 166; second innings, nine for 114; Lancashire: First innings, 192 (Mercer five for 59). Lancashire won on the first innings.
Derbyshire: First innings, 116 (Harding five for 19); Kent: First innings, 114 (Townsend six for 49). Derbyshire won o-n the first innings. Sussex: First innings, 273 (Duleepsinhji 62) ; Leicestershire: First innings, 88 (Tate' four for 15); they followed on and made 92. Sussex won by an innings and 93 runs. AUCKLAND, May 30,
The Australian cricket team bound for Canada, arrived by the Niagara today. A, A. M-ailev, who is in. charge, isaid the' object of the tour was not only to -stimulate interest in the gamein the United States and Canada, but to promote a better feel'ing between Australia and thore countries. Mast of the matches will be played in Canada. The- tour opens with a gam e at Victoria B. C. on June 18th. Two matches will be played at Toronto, including a. test against Eastern Canada. Possibly the, itinerary will be altered to allow the team to visit Ottawa at the time of fhe- Conference.
Besides Bradman, V. Richardson. Iv’Ppax, and McCabe, the players include Carter (wicketkeeper) who is accompanied by his son and Dr Pone who toured New Zealand . with GaL' ; gan's team.
