THE POLICE KNEW

AUCKLAND, May 20
Giving evidence yesterday in the riot case, Mate Dragovic-h, one of the accused, said that it was untrue ho was among the stone-throwers, as Inspector Hollis had testified.
“So this is another who says the police officer® are saying things that are untrue,” commented the- Crown Prosecutor.
Dragovic-h was asked in - crossexamination whether lie 1 had been before the Court previously. Accused’s Counsel: You had better say you had, because they know. (La lighter).
FOUND DEAD. AUCKLAND, May 27. A man who is believed to be Ernest Lake, married, of Morningside, was found dead on the railway line at Penrose shortly before midnight. r l he body was frightfully mangled. A note was found with the word “goodbye."

An unidentified man who was found gassed in an apartment .house til's week, is bei'ievcd to be. named Winsfone Young, a . saw mi Her of Otorolianga. A pawn broker has identified the body as that of a man who pawned a suit under that mame.
