PROPOSALS REJECTED

WELLINGTON, May 27
Reports presented to the Diocesan Synod disclosed a vserious shrinkage in income available for Diocesan schools. The Board Committee suggested a revival of tint method of raising funds by “people’s pence,” which are contributions of a penny per week by those attending churches in the diocese, the money to be.placed in a special contribution box at the door of the church. The report -was adopted. ' ...... . ...... A motion moved by Mr R. Campbell Begg, that a General Superintedent be appointed, with complete -charge of every detail of Wellington hospital hoard’s work, wa© rejected by 9 votes to 4, at a meeting of the Board. The motion provided that the superintendent b e - a permanent representative of the; Board with complete responsibility for the management of all institutions';, and activities within the province of the Board. A motion to abolish the Chairman’s honorarium of £2OO per annum was lost by 10 to- 3 votes.
