IN DISAGREEMENT
WITH LETTER RECEIVED.
(By Telegraph —Per Press Association)
CHRISTCHURCH, May 25
Strong disagreement was expressed by several members of North Canterbury Hospital Board to-day when a letter was read from the- Director General of Health urging all Hospital Boards to refuse charitable aid relief to all men who had gone on strike, or who refused to work under the Unemployment Board’s scheme. Rev. J. K. Archer said the Director General should .mind his own business. He had no right to dictate to the- Board. Other members said the Board got its money from the- Government and could not go against it. Mr IV. J. Walter said the women and children must be fed, whether the men were on strike or not. The Chairman, Mr H. J. Otley, agreed, and added that it was impossible to do that without feeding the men as well. The subject was a difficult one. The letter was received.
