In reply to inquiries from, ex-service-men at Ross concerning the objects and functioning of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, the executive of the Hokitika branch, visited Ross last evening when a well attended and entliusin stic meeting was held. . The president (Mr A. C. Armstrong), outlined the working of the Association, and stressed the point that the greater the membership, ' the more chance there would be of recognition in the way of grants for their unemployed. He urged the men in the Rcss district to form Up with the organisation, thereby, giving assistance to those of their fellow members who were in SMttnwhnt straitened circumstances. The vice-president (Mr W. JC. Brawn) gave a detailed resume of the business transacted at the last annual conference held at Wellington.

Considerable enthusiasm was shown by the local men and it was unanimously decided that a sub-branch of the Hokitika R.S.A., be formed. A■ meeting will be called at a later date to appoint fin executive. Meanwhile endeavours will be made in tljiy district; to enrol as many members as possible.
