THE WATER LILY
STRIKES A HEAVY CALE. (.By Telograph, t'er Association.
AUCKLAND, May 18
A gale was encountered on Tuesday night by the ketch “Water Lily,” in which seven old boys of Christ’s College are cn route from New Zealand to Tonga. This made it necessary for l the vessel to heave to for some hours. A wireless message to this effect was transmitted from the ketch by short wave, and it was picked up by an Auckland amateur. Only brief details were given, but the vessel reported “all well,” although the weathbr was threatening. The ketch’s position at ?' o’clock to-night was given as longitude 1715 degrees, and latitude 31 degrees which is about .250 miles north of Russel. That port was left on Sunday.
