Gorbuloff, the assassin of the French President M. Doumer, told the examining Magistrate an astonishing story, that he had long been dominated T>y the idea of killing M. Doumer. On the day of the murder he went to Notre Dame Cathedral and prayed for hours to dispel his obsession, but failed. . dri; t
He even vainly tried to provoke a policeman to arrest him by on inquiring as to what would happen if he murdered someone.
Thereafter he went to a cafe and drank a bottle of cognac in an unsuccessful attempt to get drunk, but the idea of murder persisted. He went to the hook sale aind was in a. state of hypnosis when he shot M. Doumer.
