MESSAGE FROM KING

WELLINGTON, May 16

Rev. Dr Lauchlan MacLean-Watt, ■Minister of Glasgow Cathedral, arrived to-day by the Maunganui from Sydney, after three months in Australia where he acted as preacher at Scots Church, Melbourne.

Before leaving England he received from the King, a message to the Dominions. He visited the King who expressed his deep sympathy with the Dominions in their present day anxieties, and .said he shared in all their hopes, and that their loyalty u\as his fnost precious possession.

In an interview, the visitor .said the times through 'which we have been passing wero awakening humanity to a perception of the fact that material ideals as an end and measure of life, were not abiding things. Be had no doubt from his own experience with men and women that, the world was swinging back to higher spiritual estimates. He had found in .Australia, a wonderful response to the appeal or religious ideals. He returns to England by the Mataroa, leaving Auckland on. May 28th-
