ROTORUA, May 5
Team No 5, Rotorua Platoon, B. Company, Second Cadet Battalion, Hauraki Regiment, won the Jellicoe Trophy, for the best score in tlie Dominion, in the Imperial Challenge Shield Competition. The team also gained a place in the best hundred throughout the Empire. Teams in Britain, Canad, Australia, South Africa and India were competing. The achievement gives Rotorua tlie honour of holding the two premier cadet shooting trophies of the Dominion, the High School having won the Press Challenge Shield. It is the only New Zealand team to gain a place in the best hundred. There were 181 other New Zealand teams competing. One member qualified for the Empire marksman score of 90 or over, and one as an Empire first class shot (85 to 89). The team’s score was 654, an average of 81 point 75. The score was made using open sights.
