SUPREME COURT
WELLINGTON CASES HEARD,
CLAIM FOR £SOOO DEFEATED

WELLINGTON, May 4
A case in which Truth, New Zealand, Ltd!., claimed £SOOO from “The, Worker,” was struck out by Mr Justice Biair in the Supreme Court to-day.
Counsel for plaintiff said that a settlement:! would be arrived at, and it had been arranged for an apology to be published by defendant in its paper in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin, also in Truth.; The terms of the settlement were handed to His Honour. Theft of Benzine. George Robert Edwards, John Thomas Laughnan, and 1 Albert Good were jointly tried on a charge of 'fiheft of benzine at Miakara, valued at £5 12s, ’the property of the Mnkara County Council, and with receiving benzine, knowing it to be dishonestly obtained. Summing up, His Honour had no hesitation in saying that the jury must not convict Laughnan, and the/ must be careful to see that no person wa,s convicted on a. criminal charge merely on suspicion. The hearing' is being continued.
