MAGISTRATE SHOT
TERRORISM IN BENGAL. V. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) CALCUTTA, April 39. Mr Douglas, district Magistrate at Midnapore, Western Bengal, was shot with a revolver and seriously wounded by a youth, who fired three times point blank when Douglas was leaving a Board meeting. The youth has been arrested. FOURTH VICTIM IN 12 MONTHS. f CALCUTTA, May 1. i The Magistrate, Mr Robert Douglas, ■'*' died la tec. He specialised in finance and was highly esteemed in the civil service. He .succeeded Mr James Peddie, who was similarly murdered last t year. He is the fourth British official "v to be assassinated by terrorists in Ben gal within twelve months.
