RIMU JUBILEE
WEDNESDAY’S GATHERING
The golden jubilee of the Rimu goldfields will be celebrated 011 ednes- . day when there will be a gala day in > ~ the township. A public holiday has beea declared in Hokitika for the occasion / and the gathering lias every promise of being a very large one. A large number of former residents have signified their intention cf being present, coming from all parts of the district and further afield. Preceded by the Hokitika Municipal Band, a grand procession will leave, Woodstock at 10.30 a.m. for the Rimu: Domain, where a variety of sports and; games will be held. The procession will consist of a number of features of 59 years ago, and a. speciality will be the May Queen and her attendants. Several arches and evergreens will adorn the route of the procession, and on the main arch, “Welcome to Rimu,” a painting of a goldfield, kindly donated, will be depicted. There will be constant- motor service# running between Hokitika and Woodstock during the clay and night. The management have requested u's to state. j that there will be ample refreshments: provided free throughout the day.
