TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO (From “AYest Coast Times,” for weett ending, April 30th., 19U7.) Social Guild.—The first fortnightly meeting of the Social Guild was held in All Saints’ schoolroom last evening and was very successfu. Discussion were held on various subjects, the following taking part:—Messrs 'Goodrich, Hills, Lampe, Moore, F. Sellers Dykes, Pfeifer, Andrews and Mesdames Roebeck and Bock. The subject for the next debate will ue on the selling of the Harbour Board reserves.

Hospital Committee—The annual meeting of subscribers to the Hokitika Bocal District Hospital Committee was held on Tuesday evening. The following committee was appointed for the year:—-Messrs J. R. McNaughton, W. Heinz, H. Jacobs, S. AVogan, J. Cooper, and J. Cochrane. Borough Elections. —The election of nine councillors for the Borough of Hokitika was held yesterday. A few minutes after 9 o’clock, the Returning Officer, Mr A. A. Andrews, declared! the result of the poll as follows: —H. Macandrew 48b, T. AY. Bears 469, J. J. Breeze 468, J. Lloyd 430, H. M. Coulson 416, F. McGregor 409, E. H. Robinson 394, H. B. Bock 359, J. McSlierry 351 (all elected), and AY. Heinz 325, T. Palmer 299, T. L. Ralfe 285, informal 6.
