There was a large attendance at the Soldiers’ Hall last evening when the Westland Aero Club hold its first o flic - uul ball. Special attention had been paid to the decorations, and to the supper, and dancing to music by the Black Hand Orchestra, an enjoyable time was spent by all. The- restoration o 3 the A Yes t land County Chambers following the rase lire, is now well in band, and t-ue building will be used as the principal polling booth on Wednesday week tor it lie .County elections. An extt'aot-dimu'y tiecicient, result intz in the death of a seventeen-,year-old girl and sui-imts injury to a youth, occurred at Aurou sixtv-eight milts from New Plymouth. The victims oi the accident were Mary Ellen Horgan, aged .seventeen years, fatal fate and head injuries; .James Williamson severe head injuries, in a semi-conscious condition. Miss Morgan was ty-ling along Sheet- Hoad, which was undei recall-. Williamson was riding a horse in the opposite direction. Sucldenl. the annimal took' fright and sh ed. In its plunging the horse L.shed out and hurled the girl and her bicycle ibout fifteen feet. Miss Horgan re•eived face and h.ead injuries, while Williamson was thrown heivilv. The girl was conveyed to her home, where she received medical attention. She was then removed to the Kstponga Hospital, where she died in the evening. She was the only daughter o Mr and Mis ('. Morgan, of Auroa, and was very popular in the district. She •vas a prominent hockey player.
