HOKITIKA MONTHLY MEETING. Tlie Westland Hospital Board met Just evening wlu-n there were present: Messrs J. J. Hree;; e senr, (chairman), T. W. Duff, M. Keenan, W. H. Evenden, R. Meharr.v. E. W. Heenan, CD Davidson, A. R. El cock and the secre,tary (Mr T. W. Bruce). The minutes ol vhe previous meeting wore confirmed an ! the outward correspondence approved. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. (Fries and H. Wells. The Hon. .1. A. Young, Minister < t Health, wrote regretting Jiis inability to he present at the civic function to Mr IFreeze. and forwarding Ins congratulations.— Received. The Dej artnu ip wrote thanking the Board for its promptitude in lorwardjng financial si.e‘cmon;. The Valuation Department advised the following rateable capital value of each eontribut <rv local authority in the "Westland Ho nilal district Westland County £B2l dido, Hokitika, Borough £389,91 I. Kitmara Rorough £23 IK >5, Ross Borough CID.HtJI. The secretary of the Hospital Boards’ Association wr t.* advisine that a general meeting of Hoards would lie held at Wellington oti -lime 9th, and outlining the proposed businc:-s. Air Davidson was appointed to represent tho Hokitika Hoard. The Band and Income To.:-: Dmmr!ment wrote requesting names and particulars of firms to which the Hoard had let contracts.—Tho secretary reported having acceded to tho request. The County Council wrote acknow-
ledging the Board’s lotto’' re the levy .for the coming year and expressing pleasure that tn« levy was to oe madj along the lines of previous allocations. An application from the North Island was receiveed for the position of-matron | to the Westland Hospital, the applicant, stating that she understood the position was vacant.—Received. The chairman said the rumen:- must have been freely spread when it was heard in the North Island, j Dr. Mclntyre advised that a patient ' from the Westland district had been discharged from the Christchurch sanitoriimi. j A letter was received from Mr Thompson. Wa.ifm, re accounts for the , Waiho-Weheka Pick and Accident Knud, and advising that no such fund existed. that receipts tor the period amounted to £352/19/8. and expenditure to £1278 8/9. There was a credit of £244/19/8 at the Bank. Accounts amounting to £341/8/6 were passed for payment. Tho meeting then went into committee fur half an hour to consider the estimates.
