WIZARD SMITH’S TEN MILES. RECOGXITIOX IN 'E-XGRAX'D. 'By Telegraph—Per Press Association ) AUCKLAND, April 27. Cable advice ’has been received from the- Royal Automobile Club, London, stating that Norman .Smith’s ten mile record of 164 miles an 'hour, established recently at the Ninety Mice Beach, has been confirmed as a world record. This is the first occasion on which a ten-milo record attempt has been timed by electric apparatus, Officials of the Auckland Automobile Assn interested in 'Smith s attempt on the world land speed record will leave for the Ninety Mile Beach to-morrow morning. Advice from the Beach this morning stated that Smith would attempt- to smash the five mii'e record between 11 and 12 o’clock on Friday, and would probably make his dash for the mile record of 253 miles nu hour on Saturday.
