U.S. PRESIDENCY

ROOSEVELT AND SMITH, A CHANGE IN THE RUNNING. (United Press Association—By Electrk Telegraph.—Copyright.) NEW YORK, April 27. Incomplete returns of Tuesday’s primary election in the States of Mas sachusetts and Pennsylvania indicate that Governor Roosevelt of New York State, and ex-Governor Alfred Smith have divided the honours. Mr Roosevelt is apparently winning a substantial majority of tPunnsylvania’s 76 Presidential nominating delegates, while Mr Smith has made a clean sweep of Massachusetts' 86 delegates

Counting his previous victories, Mi Roosevelt retains a commanding load of pledged delegates. However, his latest decisive defeat in Massachusetts is a severe blow to his prestige.
