WELLINGTON, April 23

Tiie board set up under the Transport Licensing Act, 1931, to hear appeals from the Central Licensing Autnoiitv and from District Licensing Authorities under the Act, will begin its first- sitting in New Plymouth on AI ay 3, fixtures after Alay 20 being tentative and subject to revision. There are. ten district authorities, six in the North Island and four ?n the South, as well a® the Metropolitan Incensing Authorities in the him’ centres The Central Authority deals with all services which run into two or more districts.

The four metropolitan and ten local district authorities, deal with services running within their own districts. From fill these authorities, fifteen in all, an appeal lies to the Transport Appeal Board, which consists of life Honour .Air Justice, Frazer (chairman), .Air Lisle Aklerton, of Auckland, and Air Thomas Jordan, of Ala-sterton. About sixty appeals have been lodged with the Oommfeisioner of Transport up to the present time and the board lias made the following fixtures:- Alay 3, New Plymouth; Alay A, Wanganui; Alay il, AA’elliiigton; Ably 12, Napier; Alay 17, Botorua; ..ay 20, Auckland; Alay 24, Hamilton; Alay 20, Wellington (for Nelson and Alarlboroiigh cases;; Alay 28, Christchurch; June 2, Dunedin. Dates after Alay 20 fire subject to revision, depending upon whether the board is able to deal with appeals to be hoard up to that date. Air ,J. A. Gilmour lias been appointed secretary to the Transport Appeal Board.
