Continuing his address in the Dail, Mr MacDermott urged the Government, to open negotiations with Britain for some more acceptable form of undertaking than the existing Oatn. This was taken as the main reference to Frodshain’g suggestion, which De Valera’s paper the “Irish Press” fm»'inently displays.
Mr MacDermott urged the Free State if it wishes to delete the Oath, IfiouWfeo tcUtfe m]ft?r*partners of tire 00-mmonwealth trattoria and sviggesi, that the Oath become an anomaly, either because of the Statute of Westminster, or some other reason, and that another symbol of allegiance should be adopted instead.
