A message from Miami states tlmt Mrs Keith Miller and Captain Lancaster are held in the County gaol, tor investigation into the shooting of Haden Clark, the aeroplane pilot, here. Statements given to the police by the two, ascribe the wound in Clark’s head to a suicide attempt. Mrs Mille r said she was awakened shortly before daylight by Lancaster, who told her that Clark shot himself. She said that she went with Lancaster to where Clark’s body lay, and saw a. pistol under the body. Lancaster said that he and Clark retired to the porch, where they slept, about 12.45 a.m.

“We talked for about ail hour, of troubles at Home and several othei things,” he said. He was awakened by a report, and some time later hoard Clark making funny noises. “1 turned on the light, and saw that his face was covered with blood, and he was lying on his side. I rail to Mis room and got her up.” Later, he called a physician and an attorney and Clark was taken to tin hospital. Mrs Clark, mother ol the injured man, said that the police showed her a type-written note to Mrs Millei. which said: “I cannot stand this econonic pressure will you please sustain my mother in her deep grief?” Mrs Clark said that she could not he sure that the signature was ser son’s, hut expressed the opinion lie shot himself.
