ARBITRATION ACT
COURT SUSPENDED
COMMISSION FOR DISPUTES

WELLINGTON, April 21
A number of industrial cases set down for hearing by the Arbitration Court will probably be dealt with under .the new Act, when it has received the assent of the Governor-Gen-eral. On Thursday the members of the Court will leave for Wanganui, sitting there on Friday and M ew 'Plymouth on Monday. .Applications in reference to industrial cases ;havo been in suspense owing to tbft new legislation. All such cases now pending m to he rMcviw;] back to Abo Conciliation Council U-. ho dealt with under the Act, and until the necessary preliminaries have been disposed of, it will mean that some weeks will elapse before the Arbitration Count is able to deal with any industrial disputes. A few days ago, when an industrial dispute was called m the Arbitration Court, Mr Justice Frazer said that, as soon as possible after the Act habeen passed and had received the .signature of the Governor-General, the Court would make an order referring oeruling disputes to the /Concilia ton Commissioner to be settled as required under the new legislation.. The- present .sitting will conclude with the bearing at New Plymouth on May 2nd; After that sittings will be suspended until the work of the Transport- Appeal Board is disposed of, and the Court wil 1 resume its sittings again early in June at Dunedin or Invercargill. _____
